At times it is so hard to keep a positive outlook. Terrible events happening around the world, news of illness from family members and good friends, emotional and financial problems surrounding us and our loved ones, all contribute to feelings of depression and hopelessness.
I wish I had a magic wand, a potion or a spell that would make everything better, make all troubles vanish and good fortune and health come our way, a happy ending to a fabulous fairy tale. Wouldn’t it be nice?
But here we are living a life filled with mystery and what seems tragic today may have a purpose we cannot see and that we may never see in this life. We must not lose faith and trust that our loving and merciful God will help us through and give meaning to what we don’t understand right now.
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.
