The first time my retirement year came to my attention I was 28 – it seemed so far into the future.  There was a report in my place of employment where the retirement year for each employee was listed.  At that time my retirement age would have been 65, later changed to 66.  Since I took early retirement at age 62, that year ended up not being relevant.  But that lovely year does make me eligible for Medicare.  So I cheerfully welcome 2014.
